Overview

This two-day workshop is designed for photographers who want to elevate their child-and-animal portrait work using natural light, studio strobes, wardrobe styling, outdoor locations, and confident posing techniques. Attendees must already be able to shoot in manual mode.
The workshop begins at 4:00 PM on June 12 and ends at sunset on June 13. Regular breaks will be included throughout both days.

Important Information

Accommodations are not provided.
The closest airport is Yeager Airport (CRW) in Charleston, West Virginia.
Transportation is not provided. Attendees are responsible for their own travel between locations; however, carpooling among attendees is possible and can be arranged in the private workshop group.
Meals:
Day One: Group supper outing; each attendee pays for their own meal.
Day Two: Breakfast and lunch are provided.

Natural light instruction and demonstration
Outdoor shooting in curated resort locations
Working with children and animals
Posing techniques, composition, and workflow guidance
Hands-on shooting with instructor support

Day Two: Andrea Martin Photography Studio – Beckley

Morning and Afternoon:
Natural light instruction indoors
Full strobe lighting education
Using softboxes, umbrellas, and modifiers
Working with backdrops and lifestyle-style setups
Indoor posing and lighting techniques
Hands-on shooting with children and animals

Evening Session – Beaver, West Virginia:
Outdoor shooting with children and animals at a new location
How to create variety in different landscapes and lighting conditions
Guided posing, composition, and storytelling practice

Editing Instruction

Instead of a live editing demonstration during the workshop, each attendee will receive a full editing video within one week. This video will showcase my complete workflow using images taken during the workshop sessions.

Refund and Retainer Policy

A non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your spot in the workshop. Your seat is not secured until the retainer has been paid. The remaining balance is due no later than two weeks before the workshop date.
All payments are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you may sell or transfer your seat to another photographer. Please notify me so I can update the attendee list.
If I must cancel the workshop, all payments will be refunded in full. Travel, lodging, and personal expenses are not covered.

FAQ

Do I need to know how to shoot in manual mode?
Yes. All attendees must already be able to shoot in manual mode.

Are accommodations included?
No. Attendees must book their own lodging.

Is transportation provided?
